SEEK SECOND-HAND
When filling an empty room, search for
‘pre-loved’ pieces of furniture first and go
from there. If we can score a statement
sofa, headboard or coffee table for a
fraction of the cost of new, we’ll use this
as the basis of the design. Other elements
like cushions, throws and wall art can
then be easily sourced to match.
MINI MAKEOVERS
A revamp of tired-looking kitchens and bathrooms doesn’t
have to break the bank. Re-laminating existing benchtops,
fitting new doors, taps and handrails, or adding a tiled
backsplash can quickly modernise your space. Finally, look
upwards. Neglected fans and lights can be replaced with
modern, power-saving fittings.

ENSEMBLE BEDS
From years of making beds in holiday homes, we’ve grown to love
ensemble-style beds. Not only are they much easier to make and shift
around, they take up less space. Ensemble beds also let you get creative
with your headboard. Drawing on inspiration from travels in Indonesia,
we chose this fabulous headboard from local shop Bungalow Life.
