Tough love
The team at new boutique
firm Cairns Family Law Group
are experts in a difficult and
sensitive legal field.
Words Janie Barton
Most people get married and have
children with the dream of staying
together forever. Unfortunately, that’s
not always the case. And when families
do break down, the right family lawyer
plays a crucial role in ensuring all
members of the family have the best
possible outcome.
“The aim of Cairns Family Law Group
is to get solutions for clients and
help them move on to the next stage
of their lives,” says Catherine Ross,
an accredited family law specialist
and co-director of the new firm. “We
Catherine Ross help people sort out their parenting
arrangements, finances, property
settlements and child support to make
the separation as painless as possible
for all parties.”
Catherine and her co-director Amalie
Grima set up the new boutique law
firm following years of experience in
family law. They know how to help
make separation less stressful for the
whole family.
“We believe that mediated outcomes
and reaching resolutions out of court
are better solutions for everyone,”
Amalie says. “Not only is it more
affordable, but separations don’t drag
out, and everyone is happier in the end.
However, when we do need to represent
our client’s in court we’re pretty tough
legal opponents.”
The two believe a holistic and down-
to-earth approach to separation is
the best way to help couples reach an
amicable separation.
“Knowledge is power,” says Catherine.
“Once couples have the right
information they’re more likely to
reach an agreement. This includes
not just legal advice, but advice from
councillors, accountants, financial
planners and mediators as well. That’s
why we help connect our clients to
specialists who can support them to
Amalie Grima
reach a happy agreement.
