DARK-COLOURED ROOFS

evidence showing dark roofs contribute significantly to
the ‘Urban Heat Island Effect’. This impacts more than
each individual home – it heats up entire suburbs.
In a tropical city where heatwaves are becoming more
commonplace, Cairns Regional Council should move to
