Perfect pairings
CRAFT BEER
Tropic tracked down some chefs from Hemingway’s Brewery
for advice on how to choose the right beer to match your
favourite meal. Chefs Marcel, Daniel, Warren and Ronald took
up the challenge. The good news is that there aren’t too many
things beer doesn’t go with, however there are certainly more
favourable taste pairings.

Marcel has chosen his favourite beer, Mr Wong One of Warren’s favourites is a crisp Prospector Pilsner
Hefeweizen. He recommends pairing it with Hemingway’s with a cheese steak sandwich. You won’t go home hungry
blackberry BBQ chicken wings. with this pairing!
Daniel, a pizza chef, enjoys 7th Heaven Tropical Ale with Ronald’s go-to is a refreshing Tunnel 10 Lager with
any Hemingway’s pizzas. He would also like it to be known Hemingway’s drunken lamb salad. This is a salad that
he also loves the Hemingway’s Hefeweizen, Mr Wong. really doesn’t feel like a salad, and it is as delicious as it is
satisfying.
If you would like to mix it up and go it alone, here are some beer pairing basics.
But don’t forget, rules were made to be broken.
• Light lagers (Tunnel 10 or Canecutter) | Spicy food, burgers, salads
• Wheat beers (Mr Wong Hef) | Spicy food and fruity desserts
• India pale ales (Doug’s Courage, Coral Cay) | Steak, barbecue, and Mexican food
• Pale ales (Pitchfork Betty’s) | Pizza, Cajun style or spicy food
• Tropical ales (7th Heaven) | Fish, chicken wings, zesty salads
