Land in a new estate north of Cairns is being snapped up before it's even officially on the market.
Freshwater Pocket is slated to offer buyers 59 properties on the foothills of Mt Whitfield, about 10 kilometres from the CBD.
Real estate agent Property Shop has already sold 18 lots with just 15 remaining in the estate’s first stage.
A further 26 properties will be made available next year.

Boasting large tracts of protected vegetation and master-planned streetscapes, Freshwater Estate is located opposite Freshwater Christian College, just off Brinsmead Road.
Local real estate agent, Ben Johnston of Property Shop, said he has been overwhelmed with the ‘predominantly local response’ to the sales.
“We have sold all 18 lots in our pre-release without even publicly launching our marketing campaign yet,” said real estate agent, Ben Johnston.

“We knew they would go quickly, but we certainly didn’t anticipate that speed.
“The demand for land right now for new builds is phenomenal and we are delighted to see such keen interest in this estate.”
Blocks start at $269,000 with the smallest lot at 561 square metres.
The largest property in stage one is more than twice the size, covering 1236 square metres.
“It really is a special spot,” said Freshwater Pocket Managing Director, Evan Yelavich.
“We will be ensuring the site’s natural beauty is maintained as the lush rainforest surrounding the blocks is what attracts people to want to buy here.
“There are strict covenants on the development to ensure environmental and aesthetic integrity is maintained throughout the life of the project.”
