Flights departing Cairns for as little $55 have dropped today, as part of a huge nationwide Jetstar sale.

The sale also includes overseas flights to destinations like Bali, with departures going for $115 and return trips to Cairns on sale for as little as $72.

Cairns travellers can also book one-way flights to Japan’s Osaka or Tokyo for $199.

Domestically, Jetstar is offering $55 one-way fares to the Gold Coast, $79 to Sydney, $89 to Darwin and Melbourne, and $99 to Perth.

Cairns to Adelaide is available from $85 one way, while Brisbane flights are currently at $65 on select dates.

The announcement comes just days after Jetstar flew its first planes to Denpasar in almost two years.

Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans said Bali has always been the most popular international destination in Jetstar’s network, with millions of people flying to the Indonesian island every year before COVID hit.

“We are very excited to return to Bali after two long years,” he said.

“[Our services] carried more than two million customers each year and contributed almost two billion Australian dollars annually to the local Balinese economy.

“We are confident that Bali will quickly regain its position as our most popular international tourist destination now that borders are open.

“Our recent Bali sale saw the biggest surge in bookings we’ve seen since 2016, and our recent surveys have consistently shown that Bali is still the top international destination people want to travel to."

Jetstar’s flights from Melbourne are now operating three times weekly, although the airline anticipates this will ramp up as demand increases.

Bali flights from Sydney and Perth are scheduled to recommence in early April, with flights from Brisbane, Adelaide, Cairns and Darwin scheduled for May.

Travellers into Bali must meet a number of requirements set by the Indonesian Government – including vaccination, PCR testing and proof of hotel bookings.

Those going to Japan will need a visa, proof of vaccination (to avoid quarantine), a negative PCR test within 72 hours of departure, and fill out an individual written pledge.
