Yirrganydji teenager Nyree Kemp has been named one of Australia’s ‘future faces’ in modelling by leading Australian fashion publication, Marie Claire.

It marks the second major magazine feature for the 15-year-old Cairns student in just a few months.

Late last year, she appeared in Harper’s Bazaar as part of a story on up-and-coming First Nations models.

Nyree was signed by modelling agency The Scouted only nine months ago, shortly after she was spotted on TikTok.

She told Tropic Now the recognition feels “amazing”.

“I’m really proud of what I’ve managed to achieve so far,” Nyree said.

“I’d really like to travel out of Australia one day and take part in fashion week in a major city.

“I’m inspired by many people in the Australian and Indigenous Australian fashion industry - particularly Benita Williams, as she also lives in Cairns.”

Simone Hellicar, founder of The Scouted, said Nyree immediately caught her eye on the social media platform.

“I noticed she had very unique and defining features that made her stand out,” she said.

“She also seemed to have a great personality from her video where she was dancing which is really important for a successful model.

“Nyree has some holds with a few big brands coming up, but I can’t disclose any yet.”

I would like to use my platform to inspire teenage girls who are like me to follow their dreams and embrace opportunities as they come.
