Three people have been taken to hospital for snake bites in the Cairns and Hinterland region over the past two days, as warmer temperatures increase reptile activity.

Two women in their 40s have been treated in Cairns Hospital, with one bitten on the upper leg at Goldsborough on Wednesday night and the other bitten on the wrist at a property in Brinsmead last night.

A third victim, a man, was taken to Atherton Hospital after being bitten on the foot at Tinaroo last night.

A spokesperson for Cairns Hospital said one of the women has been discharged but couldn’t provide details on any of the species of snakes involved.
