Dance Monkey star's Cairns shows postponed
FEBRUARY 5 UPDATE:
Tones and I's performances next weekend, 13 and 14 February, have been postponed due to ill health.
"Hey Cairns, I was so looking forward to playing my very first shows up there," Tones and I said.
"Unfortunately due to reasons out of my control I need to postpone the shows.
"I need to look after my health at this time and I promise I will make it up to everyone.
"All tickets remain valid and I hope I can see you all there. Love Tones."
The announcement comes just day's after John Butler's shows, also part of the Cairns Summer Sounds series, were postponed due to WA's snap five-day lockdown.
Tickets to the Tones And I show will remain valid for the new dates, yet to be announced.
Ticket holders who would like to attend a different Cairns Summer Sounds event can contact Ticketlink on 1300 855 835 to see either Bernard Fanning or Amy Shark instead.
Another chart-topping Australian artist will make their way to Cairns this February.
Tones and I, who became globally recognised for her breakout single Dance Monkey, joins John Butler, Bernard Fanning and Amy Shark in a string of shows at Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) this summer.
The Melbourne-based singer will host two shows, 13 and 14 February, as part of the city's new Summer Sounds series.
Her hit single Dance Monkey reached No. 1 in 20 countries and has clocked up over two billion streams – making it the most played Spotify song by a female artist globally last year.
Cairns Mayor Bob Manning was delighted to announce a fourth stellar performer to the Summer Sounds series.
“Ticket sales for Cairns Summer Series has been strong and considering the national popularity of Tones and I, I would encourage residents to get in early to secure their seat,” Cr Manning said.
“Cairns Summer Sounds enhances our cultural repertoire and having four Australian talents with international recognition on board this year, launches this series firmly on the front foot.”
The lineup begins with legendary independent artist John Butler, performing twice across 4 and 5 February.
Tones and I then takes over the CPAC stage for two shows the following weekend.
Bernard Fanning – who was formerly Powderfinger's front man before launching a successful solo career – plays 20 and 21 February.
Finally, Amy Shark will perform over two nights in Cairns on 26 and 27 February, before kicking off her Cry Forever national tour.
