Glamorous power couple named Cairns Amateurs ambassadors
Rugby league player James Tamou and his fashionista wife Brittney will showcase Cairns to the nation as part of their ambassador duties for the 2019 Cairns Amateurs carnival.
President Ross Moller made the announcement at Riley Resort today, where he was joined by Brittney.
Former Cowboys player James couldn’t make it because he has NRL duties, with his current team Penrith taking on the Broncos tonight.
Mr Moller said the golden couple are a perfect fit for the role.
“They have lived in North Queensland, they know the area and now living in Sydney it gives us another avenue to promote the race meeting through their social media contacts,” he said.
“We’re aiming to make the event bigger and better.
“We’ve got 11 corporate tents inside the track this year, which is five up on last year so for people to say the Cairns economy is doing it tough, they all want to come and party at the Amateurs.”
Part of the role for Brittney and James Tamou will be promoting Cairns as a tourist destination through social media.
Combined, they have almost 30,000 Instagram followers.
This weekend, the couple will be taking in the sights of the region that underpin the 61st Carnival’s branding of ‘Racing on the Great Barrier Reef’.
“We will use this opportunity to leverage opportunities and exposure through our networks to promote Cairns, the region and the fun, fashion and racing action,” Brittney said.
“Cairns has beautiful weather, amazing accommodation and who would want to miss the Cairns Amateurs?”
The couple will be attending all events throughout the weekend of racing, including the annual black tie ball.
